Ayla is a 14 year old, 9th grade student at Navarro High School in Geronimo, Texas. Ayla was born with a variation of Dandy walker syndrome, impacting the growth of her cerebellum. Ayla’s balance, coordination and intellectual abilities were impacted. Ayla is intellectually about 9-10 years old, has overcome seizures, and balance issues but has lifelong intellectual disabilities. She is unable to read or retain most things at school. She also is unable to speak clear sentences although she is able to speak short phrases and understands everything told to her. Ayla is a whiz at iPads, phones, and television remotes. Ayla loves to paint and we are amazed at the detail in her paintings and how fast she has improved.
