Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab and Reform

July 19th – August 1st

Every hour, unwanted pets are being surrendered to shelters or dumped and left to fend for themselves on the streets. While our local shelter works hard to keep up with the overwhelming number of dogs being surrendered daily, the Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform network takes a proactive approach.

Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform rescues abandoned dogs straight off the streets and rescues dogs who are set to be euthanized from high-kill shelters.

HOW IT HAPPENS

Each day is different. Some of the dogs we find are so desperate to be loved that they readily jump into our arms and do not look back. Others are more hesitant, but thanks to our dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to earn their trust, they are gradually won over. Regardless of how or when they officially become a Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform rescue dog, the relieved, ecstatic, or simply exhausted expression on their sweet face during their freedom ride makes a rescue day the best day ever.

HOW YOU CAN HELP RESCUE

Do you want to join in on the action? Every step of this rescue process has so many unique ways to be involved — from building trusting relationships with abandoned dogs on the street to transporting newly rescued dogs to the foster families waiting for them!

Erin

Erin

Weiner Dog

Hi! My name is Erin. I am 28 years old. I have a learning disability, but I’m high functioning. I am from Whidbey Island, Washington. I grew up on an organic farm with my mom, dad, and my younger brother Gavin. I currently live in Leavenworth, Washington, at an adult family home called the Coyote House. I love animals so much. That is why I entered in this contest while I was attending TRAILS Day Program at Tierra Village. Why I love no-kill animal shelters is because they keep dogs alive so that people can adopt them. I love dogs a lot, and someday, when I have my own place, I would love to adopt a puppy from an animal shelter (rather than buying one from a breeder). I am happy to show my love of art and animals with a wider audience.

He normally comes home after a long day at the zoo to draw all of his favorite animals he saw that day. He has giant stacks of artwork that he keeps at home. His pictures are very special to him and kept very organized. You cannot look at them without his permission. Sarah

Sarah

Shaggy Dog

Sarah was born October 9, 2000 in Plano, Texas. Her family experienced the great loss of her sister Ashley in 1994 and they prayed about Sarah. They knew she would be born with Down syndrome but, they also knew the greatest loss was not having a child to love. Sarah was the blessing her Mom, Dad, brother Andrew and sister Alyssa needed to be complete. She is a 2020 high school graduate who had plans to attend college. Plans have changed for now and Sarah looks forward to what her future holds. She enjoys so many things! Art is just one of her joys that she’s been able to work on while being stuck at home. Lots of time on zoom sessions. She also enjoys modeling, acting, musical theatre, dance, music, all sports, hanging with friends and concerts. She’s looking forward to learning how to play golf this summer and searching for the perfect job. Down syndrome is only something Sarah was born with. Sarah is Sarah. She is a gift from God. She’s a beautiful, talented, brilliant, sassy and fun loving young woman. Sarah inspires each of us everyday!

Dallas Dog

I am 21 years old from Australia. I was diagnosed autistic at 17 and that helped make everything make sense! I own a small business where I sell a fidget device that I created. I love drawing. I mostly work in photo realism with lead pencils but I love submitting designs for PCA so I have the chance to help raise funds for great causes 🙂 My favourite thing in the whole world is my rescue pitbull Buddy. He is my heart dog and helps me get through rough days. I also love teaching my goats tricks! I have one who rides a skateboard and Im teaching her how to play the piano :P”
