Guitars for Good 2021 Week 1

November 8th – November 21st

Welcome to the Fourth Annual Guitars for Good project. Each year we find extremely talented musicians whole desire to help is even bigger than their musical talents. Please take a minute to read about the artists with special needs creating these designs. The special needs causes each musician has chosen. Hopefully you will give their music a listen as well.

VARIETY of TEXAS is a charitable organization that opens up the world for kids with special needs, and their families, by providing resources and empowering experiences. We envision a world without isolation and stigma for children with special needs and their families.

The National Ability Center empowers individuals of all abilities by building self-esteem, confidence and lifetime skills through sport, recreation and educational programs.

We adapt to make recreation and outdoor adventures accessible to people of all abilities – 365 days a year and across the state of Utah. Together, we start with “I CAN,” dream big and cherish every win – be it Paralympic gold, or quality time spent with family and friends.

As a leader in adaptive recreation and outdoor adventures, we rally around the belief that our differences make us stronger, and that recreating together can change our world. By including family and friends in programming, we strive to reinforce relationships and build support systems that extend beyond the initial program experience.

Beyond Autism strives to align its programming to the scientific principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), both to maintain and improve skills and reduce challenging behaviors. ABA, put simply, seeks to figure out how people learn and then uses that information to teach.  We look at what motivates our students, and use those things to teach new skills and improve behaviors. The ultimate goal is to foster the aquisition of skills needed to live a full, happy, productive life!

Marbridge is a non-profit residential community that offers transitional and lifetime care to adults with a wide range of cognitive disabilities and — through compassion and faith — provides them opportunities to learn, experience, and achieve a whole new life.

Sarah was born October 9, 2000 in Plano, Texas. Her family experienced the great loss of her sister Ashley in 1994 and they prayed about Sarah. They knew she would be born with Down syndrome but, they also knew the greatest loss was not having a child to love. Sarah was the blessing her Mom, Dad, brother Andrew and sister Alyssa needed to be complete.
She is a 2020 high school graduate who had plans to attend college. Plans have changed for now and Sarah looks forward to what her future holds. She enjoys so many things! Art is just one of her joys that she’s been able to work on while being stuck at home. Lots of time on zoom sessions. She also enjoys modeling, acting, musical theatre, dance, music, all sports, hanging with friends and concerts. She’s looking forward to learning how to play golf this summer and searching for the perfect job. Down syndrome is only something Sarah was born with. Sarah is Sarah. She is a gift from God. She’s a beautiful, talented, brilliant, sassy and fun loving young woman. Sarah inspires each of us everyday!
